(Swans - November 2, 2009)

beneath the eternal Oak
        latet                arbore opaca
aureus et foliis et lento vimine
ramus, a golden bough is hidden,
leaves on pliable stalks

null'altra pianta
                che facesse fronda e indurasse,
vi puote aver vita—no other enduring plant
                        can live there

sed non ante datur telluris operta subire
                auricomos quam quis decerpserit
arbore fetus, unless picking the golden bough
you cannot grasp
                        the earth deep secrets
